What else????

THE TWO WEEK BUILD WRAPS UP THIS WEEK!

I hope you are doing well on yours.  This is time for a fun build.  Its not a race and its not a contest build.  Just build it and finish a model this year, in a couple of weeks.

Having said that, we are having a contest, sort of… at our Summer Fun Swap Meet this year we are hosting a People’s Choice Contest.  And we are having a special category for 2-Week Build entries.

Our purpose for the People’s Choice format is to have some fun, display our models, and let people pick what they like without the pressure of judging.  Just build for fun and show it off.

As you can see above, the Swap Meet is this coming Saturday at the VFW in Albany.

The VFW Post #584 has hosted us for the last couple of years, so we do a benefit for them each summer.  All proceeds from this Meet go to the VFW.  I have attached a show flyer to this post, we hope to see you there.  There will also be food, beverages, and a BBQ hamburger lunch available for purchase.

One last note on the 2-Week build… if you don’t get it done, that’s ok.  This is intended to be a challenge, a motivator, and fun time to build with less pressure.  But don’t give it up.  Go ahead and take another week or so and finish it up.  You will be really glad you did!

I can say this, because I may be one of those… LOL.  But I will get it done.

Over these last few weeks we lost a club member.  Fred Jones passed away recently.  Fred was a member and regular attender for the last year-plus.  He was a Vietnam Marine veteran. Fred was a diorama builder and had many quality subjects over the last many years.  His main genres were from the Wild West, WWII, and figures (both animal and people).  He also was the past owner of Triple J Comics and Hobbies in Las Vegas.  Fred was always busy building and he brought that enthusiasm to our regular meetings.

We will be dedicating our Summer Fun Swap Meet to him and will have his large stash of figures, kits, and diorama accessories for sale.  We will also have his diorama collection available for people to take home for a donation to the VFW.

On My Bench....

Well, my big push is to get the Fokker Eindecker done for the 2-Weeker.  Life events have been many.  We’ll see if I come sliding across the finish line at the last minute.

But HEY, the goal of this hobby is to have fun!  So go have fun and keep building.
